"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 lb. hamburger
spices to taste (chopped onion, salt, pepper)
3/4 c. crushed corn flakes
1/4 c. evaporated milk (can use regular milk in a pinch)
ketchup

Directions:
Directions:
Mix raw meat and spices. Form into hamburger patties. Dip into milk, then roll in corn flakes. Place on greased baking pan. Press thumb in center of each burger and fill with ketchup. Bake at 375º for 20 min. OR 350º for 30 min. Makes 6 small patties.

*I generally use at least 1 1/2 lb. hamburger and make bigger patties. It is easiest if you have bowls with the milk and crushed corn flakes in an assembly line, with the baking pan at the end. I always have some of each left over and the cat or doggies get it.

Personal Notes:
This was another family favorite growing up. We probably had these every other week or so. It is basically a bun-less burger.
