Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 lb. hamburger
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1/4 c. uncooked rice
1 can water (use the soup can)
(optional) 1/4 c. chopped onion
(optional) 1/4 c. chopped celery
1 1/2 c. Chinese chow mein noodles

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 º.
Cook hamburger in skillet. Drain off grease. Mix all ingredients, except 1/2 cup of noodles, in greased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Bake for 55 min. Sprinkle noodles over top and bake an additional 5 min.

*I assume Mom (Grandma Carraher) used regular, long cooking rice, so the amount and cooking time differ from the way I make this recipe. I use 1/2 cup minute rice (normally cooks in 10 min) and I cook the casserole for 30 min plus the extra 5 for crisping the noodles on top. I also season with black pepper.

Personal Notes:
Some of my kids have had issue with the name "Wormy Meat" so I tried changing the name for a while. It never took. The name just fits this dish perfectly. I don't know where the recipe came from, but we ate it often.
