Ingredients:  
1 1/4 cup sifted flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp allspice
Sift above ingredients together.

1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
Cream shortening and sugar together.

1 egg
1/3 cup molasses
1/3 cup raisins
1/3 cup buttermilk or sour milk

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sifted dry ingredients with creamed shortening/sugar mixture.
Add egg, molasses, raisins and buttermilk.
Drop by spoonful on greased tins.
Bake at 375°.
