2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups boiling water
2 eggs
1 cup of dates (pitted)
1 teaspoons baking soda
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup nuts (pecans or walnuts)

Directions:
Directions:
Put pitted dates and baking soda in a large Pyrex bowl and pour in the boiling water. Put aside until cool.
Once cooled, add butter, sugar, two eggs, flour, nuts and vanilla.
Mix till combined.
Pour in small sprayed tins
Bake for 45 minutes to one hour on 350.

My mom made this bread the entire time I was growing up, and even after that. This is a wonderful bread/dessert. Serve with butter or cream cheese. This is one of the best things that I remember when growing up.
