Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 ripe but firm pears, such as Bartlett or d'Anjou, halved & cored
(apples could also work)
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. cloves
1 Tbsp light margarine or unsalted butter, cut in 4 pieces
3/4 c. orange juice, preferably fresh
1 c. vanilla yogurt [or ice cream]

Note: If you double the amount of fruit, you can double the spices and butter, but you only need to increase the sugar and OJ just a little bit.

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º F. Spread brown sugar evenly on the bottom of a Pyrex dish or pie plate just a little bigger than the 4 pear halves. Place pears skin side up on the sugar, then sprinkle with spices. Top each with a pat of butter. Pour orange juice around the pears.

Bake 20-30 minutes, or until pears are tender when pierced with a fork; it will depend on the ripeness of the pears. Scoop pears into serving bowls and set aside.

Pour orange juice mixture into a small sauce pan and boil over medium high heat, stirring often, 2-3 minutes or until thickened to the consistency of heavy cream.

Serve pears cut-side-up with a scoop of yogurt in the center and drizzle warm sauce over the top. Works for breakfast or dessert.

Personal Notes:
We found this recipe after one of Jeff and Rhonda's "Demarle at Home" parties. We used the left-over spiced orange sauce on some grilled peaches later!
