1 c shortening (not butter)
1 1/2 c. light brown sugar
1/2 c. molasses
3 eggs
3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
6 oz. chocolate ships
1 apple, finely chopped, (I used Granny Smith's)
1 c. chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Cream shortening with sugar until fluffy, add molasses and continue mixing. Add eggs. Add dry ingredients, mix well. Stir in chocolate, apples, and walnuts. Drop on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 11-13 minutes. Makes 5-6 dozen
