Texas Chocolate Cake
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour - sift together in a large bowl
1 stick margarine or butter
4 T. cocoa
1 cup water
1 tsp. soda
1 vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup buttermilk

Texas Cake Icing
1 stick margarine or butter melted
6 T. milk
4 T. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
1 box powdered sugar

Texas Chocolate Cake

Sift together in a large bowl 2 cups sugar and 2 cups flour. In a sauce pan melt: 1 stick margarine or butter, 4 T. cocoa, 1 cup water and 1/2 cup shortening. Bring to a rolling boil and pour over flour and sugar. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1 tsp. soda, 2 eggs beaten, 1 tsp. vanilla.

Use a 16" x 11" pan
Bake 20 minutes at 400 degreesº

Texas Cake Icing

Use sauce pan cake was made in. Mix: 1 stick butter or margrine, 6 T. milk, 4 T. cocoa. Bring to rolling boil. add 1 box powder sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 cup chopped nuts. Have ready and spread on cake as it is brought from the oven.ºº
