"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

Family Memories from Susan Aud Sonders: I loved to visit the Cater's at the house in Cynthiana. Knowing that my mom had grown up there made my visits very special as I slept in the big bedroom. While Kenny Jay romped through town with the boys, I caught up with Donna and Pam. I always watched Pam, wondering if I would ever grow up to be as confident and fun as she.
When I found myself in the same room as Uncle Bud, I was always at ease. With few words between us, I knew that I was special and loved in his eyes. Through the years, it gave me another perspective of how a man could be; warm, caring and gentle. Whenever we came he made his favorite recipes in the crock pot. It was always a mystery to me to see what was inside. Many wonderful summer days and nights were spent on Uncle Bud and Aunt Evelyn’s porch swing.
I remember their brick house near the cemetery. I had climbed a tree with Donna in their front yard earlier in the day and was itching behind my ear that night. Aunt Evelyn inspected it and found a tick half buried in my skin with its legs sticking out! She lit a match and pulled him out. I am forever grateful and have never looked at trees in quite the same way.
