1 c. vegetable shortening (Crisco)
1 stick butter, softened
3 c. sugar
5 or 6 small eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 tsp. lemon flavoring

ICING:
1 stick butter
4 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk
1 16-ounce box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 c. chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, butter, and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Sift dry ingredients, add. Add milk and flavorings. (Add 4 tablespoons cocoa to make chocolate.) Pour batter into large cake pan.Bake at 325º for 1-1/2 hours. Leave in pan for about 10 minutes to cool.

Icing: Mix butter, cocoa, and milk in saucepan until melted. Add sugar, vanilla and nuts. Spread over cooled cake.
