Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 pounds of ground beef
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup of milk (I have always just guessed, never measured)
couple of dashes of worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper
dried onions
saltine crackers, crumbled (about 10 or 12, just eyeball it)
I also put a shake of seasoned bread crumbs - Mom did not
2 small cans of tomato sauce
pat of butter

Directions:
Directions:
in a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs with a fork, add the onions, salt and pepper, milk, Worchestershire. then crumble the the crackers and mix well.
add the ground beef and mix together thoroughly -get in there with your hands, you know you want to! Then form into two equal sized loaves.
Heat the butter in the bottom of a dutch over on the stove. put the loaves in and brown on one side, then flip and brown on the other side. Next pour a can of tomato sauce on each loaf. Add about 1/3 of can of water to each can and drizzle over the loaves. cover the pan and cook on medium heat for about 45 minutes. I always have to check because I never use exactly the same amount of meat. Now the tricky part comes after the meat is cooked - remove from the pan and set aside. Take a cup of water and mix a table spoon or two of Wondra flour until mixed thoroughly. add a capful of browning sauce (kitchen Bouquet) to the pan drippings and bring to a boil. then stir in the flour/water and stir until desired thickness.

Personal Notes:
This was a favorite of all Flo and John V' kids growing up, and became a second generation favorite with my boys. I am sure many of the other grandkids love it also. By the way, it must be served with mashed potatoes!
