2 Cups Dry Pinto Beans
1/2 Pound Salt Pork (I substitute Bacon)
1 Large Chopped Onion
2 1/2 Tablespoons Chili Powder (more if you like them spicy)
1 Tablespoon Dry Mustard
1 Tablespoon Sugar
2 Tablespoons Molasses

Pick the beans and rinse. Cover the beans with water adding the salt pork or bacon and bring to a boil, reducing the heat to simmer for one hour. If you prefer, you can let the beans soak overnight and cook them the next day. After the beans have simmered and an hour has passed, add the additional ingredients and simmer until tender.

I found this recipe on a bag of dry beans many years ago. It has been a hit at all of our gatherings with many guests asking for the recipe. I also enjoy eating the beans as a stand alone dish.
