3 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
2 TB. molasses
1 Tb. water
1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, molasses, water, rind. Gradually add dry ingredients beating until well mixed. Chill 2 hr. roll 1/8 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake 375 degrees about 8 minutes. (ungreased cookie sheet). Decorate with icing (2 c. powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp. vanilla around 2 Tb. milk)
Making a wish: Place a cookie in the palm of your hand. Press in center with finger of other hand. If cookie breaks in 3 pieces and you can eat all 3 without saying a word, you get to make a wish.
