2 c raisins
1 c water
1 c shortening
2 c sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
4 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 allspice
1 c chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Boil raisins in water for 5 mins let cool. (there should be 1/4 c liquid)
In bowl cream shortening with the sugar, beat in eggs, one at a time then add vanilla . Add cooled raisin mixture . Stir together flour baking soda baking soda salt cinnamon nutmeg allspice gradually blend into creamed mixture. Add nuts if desired
Drop rounded teaspoonful onto greased baking sheet, allowing space for spreading. Bake at 375º oven for 12 to 15 mins or until set and browned transfer to racks to cool.
