1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sour milk
1 t. soda
2 c. flour
2 c. oatmeal
3/4 t. salt
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add sour milk in which soda has been dissolved. Add oatmeal and flour and salt, reserving enough flour to roll cookies (1/2 c.). Add vanilla. Put in refrigerator to chill. Make into loaf and slice. Bake 15 minutes at 350º




To make sour milk, use 1 1/2 t. vinegar or lemon juice and add enough milk to make 1/2 c. Let sit for 5 minutes.
