1 1/2 cup milk
3 eggs
12 slices white bread, cubed
1 medium onion, chopped fine or grated
1 stem celery, chopped fine or grated
1/4 pound hard salami, diced or ham
1/4 pound bacon, diced and fried crisp
2 - 4 cups white flour
salt and pepper
chicken broth or boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, add milk and eggs; beat until well blended.
Add bread cubes to soak up all liquid.
Add finely chopped onions, celery and diced salami (or ham).
Cook bacon until crisp; While bacon is hot, add diced bacon and grease to the mixture in bowl.
Sprinkle with 1/2 tsp of pepper and salt.
Mix thoroughly to distribute all ingredients; add white flour until a firm dough is made.
Boil a large pot of chicken broth or water. Dip spoon in the water and then in dough. Drop dough by rounded spoonfuls into water. Gently boil until the dumpling floats to the top. About 20 minutes.

A smaller recipe can be made using 1/3 of the ingredients.
Some people use chicken broth instead of water.
This is a heavy dumpling not a light fluffy dumpling.
Serve in place of potatoes with a roast.
