1 cup Butter
3 cups sugar
4 eggs
3 cups all purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla extract
confectioners' sugar (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition. Combine flour and baking soda; add alternately with the buttermilk and beat well. Stir in vanilla. Pour into greased and floured 10 inch fluted tube pan. Bake at 325º for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan for 15 minutes before removing to wire rack to cool completely. If desired dust with confectioners sugar.
