plain cornmeal
2 c sugar
1 c buttermilk
1 tsp soda
1 light tsp baking powder
flavoring

Mix all & pour into greased muffin tin. Bake at about 350* till done.

This recipe was given to me by Grandma (Ola Savell) when I was in about the 7th or 8th grade (about 1963). To make her teacakes, she said to use plain flour in place of cornmeal, roll batter out, cut & bake on a cookie sheet instead of muffin tin!
