1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 Table spoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups flour
1 cup chopped apples
1/2 cup walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Using electric mixer, beat shortening and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, vanilla and milk. Add flour, baking soda and baking powder. Mix to combine. Stir in apples and nuts.

Bake in a buttered bread pan for 1 hour. Transfer to rack and cool.
