"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Skillet Pizzawiches, by Donna Shupe, is from Donna's Family Recipes,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
2 pc bread 2 T pizza sauce or tomato sauce 2 slices cheese American 1/2 c browned hamburger meat 2 t butter
Spread butter on one side of each piece of bread. Lay the bread with the butter side down. Lay one piece of cheese on each piece of bread. Add one T pizza sauce to each piece of cheese. Put the browned hamburger meat on top of the pizza sauce. Put the two halves together to make a sandwich. Heat in skillet med/high heat until butter side of bread is browned and cheese is melted.
I started making this from a kids cookbook and it is still a family favorite. Sometimes when time is tight, we use pepperoni instead of browned meat.
