2 ¼ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon each of ginger and cinnamon
Dash of ground cloves
½ cup sugar
½ cup Crisco
2/3 cup molasses
1 beaten egg
¾ cup boiling water
Fresh whipped cream




Directions:
Directions:
Combine the first 5 ingredients and set aside
In mixing bowl, cream the sugar and Crisco, adding the molasses and egg, mix well
Stir in the dry ingredients a little at a time alternately with the boiling water
Mix well
And pour into a greased 9 inch baking pan
Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes. Cool completely

Serve with a dollop of fresh whipped cream

Note: Anthony loved this cake when he was a little guy.
I remember going to my grandma’s farm and she would serve a big country dinner with chicken, mashed potatoes, and, carrots that us kids picked from the garden,
and having her ginger cake for dessert. Playing keno and canasta, with the cousins before and after dinner.
