1 ½ cups sugar
1 ½ cups (three sticks butter)
2 tablespoons vanilla
Mix together then add
4 cups flour one cup at a time
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Mix well and chill for 30 minutes. Then roll out to about ¼ inch thick and press cookie cutters down and place on a cookie sheet that has parchment or cooking spray on it.
Bake @ 350 for 10-12 minutes
Let cool then decorate with frosting below


FROSTING
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons softened butter
1 Tablespoon vanilla
1 Tablespoon milk and food coloring
Mix together and add food coloring and frost
