16 oz. French bread loaf, cubed (about 5 cups)
6 T. butter, divided
8 oz. shredded Swiss cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/3 cup chopped onion
1 tsp. chopped garlic
3 T. flour
1 1/2 cup chicken broth
3/4 cup dry white wine
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup sour cream
8 large eggs. lightly beaten

Place bread cubes in well-buttered 9 X 13 pan. Melt 3 T. butter and drizzle over bread. Sprinkle with cheeses. Melt remaining 3 T. butter in saucepan. Add onion and garlic. Saute until tender. Whisk in flour and cook 2 minutes. Whisk in broth and next four ingredients. Thicken. Remove from heat. Stir in sour cream. Add salt and pepper. Gradually whisk and 1/4 of hot mixture into beaten eggs. Whisk well. Pour egg mixture back into saucepan. Pour mixture over cheeses. Cover with plastic wrap. Chill 8-24 hours. In the morning, let strata stand at room temperature for one hour. Remove cover and bake 30 minutes or until set.

I cut down the wine a little and substituted more chicken broth. I made this for Amelia's 2nd birthday brunch and it was delicious!
