1 c shortening( I use butter)
2 c brown sugar
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
1 t salt
3 T milk+1t soda
3 c flour
Directions:
Directions:
Mix first six ingredients together. Then add flour. Let set in refrigerator for 1 hour. Roll out and cit into shapes. (Mama used the top of a bottle of almond flavouring to make a dent in the centre of the cookie and filled it with her crabapple jelly.)
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 min.

These were Mom's signature cookies. She made them for us a children and then her grandchildren. Mama loved us always with her wonderful array of sweets.
