Ingredients:
3-3-1/2 c. Flour
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1/4 c. Sugar
3/4 c. Shortening
1/2 c. Finely Chopped Raisins
1-1/2 c. Buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together 3 c. flour, salt, soda, sugar. Cut in the shortening with pastry cutter, until it resembles pie crust dough. Mix small amount of remaining flour with the raisins and add. Add enough buttermilk to make soft dough (about 1-1/2 cup). Roll out in remaining flour to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into wedges with sharp knife. Bake on hot griddle (electric pans work well) until brown and turn to brown both sides (turn only once). Cool in single layers on cake rack.

Whole Wheat scones are made the same by omitting sugar and raisins and using wheat flour (2 cups white to 1 cup whole wheat).
