2 cups oats
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup flour
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 cup soft butter or margarine
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
14 apples, peeled and sliced (11 cups)
1/4 cup sugar plus 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine oats, sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and butter till crumbly. Mix in nuts if desired. 2. Press about a third in the bottom of a 9×13″ pan.
3. Spread apples over crust and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.
4. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture evenly over the top.
5. Bake at 350° for 40-50 minutes or till apples are tender. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Personal Notes:
-Tart apples like Granny Smiths work best for this recipe. Golden Delicious are good too. But not Red Delicious, they are not good apples for baking, they turn mushy.
