1/2 cup butter
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp baking powder
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup cake flour
jam or jelly
1 egg white
4 tsp white sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar, then add the egg yolk. Beat hard, then sift in flour and baking powder. Mix well. Pinch off small pieces of dough. Roll in balls the size of walnuts. Make an impression in centre with a thimble. Place on flowered cookie sheet. Place in a slow oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven; fill centre with jelly or jam. Beat the white of an egg; add 4 tsp white sugar and vanilla. Beat until it stands in stiff peaks. Put a dab of egg white on each jelly centre. Put back in oven until brown.
