1 c shortening
2 c sugar
3 eggs
1 c buttermilk
1 qt blackberries
1 c chopped nuts
5 c flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve soda in part of berry juice. Mix shortening sugar and eggs until creamy. Add Buttermilk and flour into which baking powder and spices have been added.
Add soda, and lastly add berries and nuts.
Bake at 350 degrees until done.
Time depends on the size of the cake.
