Ingredients: 8 thin top round beef steaks (about 2 lbs.) 8 slices raw bacon (optional) yellow mustard yellow onion, sliced thin whole Kosher dill pickles 2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. black pepper 1 tsp. paprika 1 tsp. Vegeta toothpicks 1/3 c oil 3 tbsp .flour 3 c. beef stock 1 c. water

Directions:Pound steaks with a meat mallet to tenderize and make very thin 1/4". For each steak lay flat smear the top with mustard. Place one slice bacon over mustard. Now sprinkle with some salt, black pepper, paprika and Vegeta. Spread some of the onion then place a pickle at one end. Now roll the steak over the pickle. Keep rolling the steak up and secure it by placing a toothpick through the end. Finish all 8 rolls. Heat a lg. heavy skillet with oil on med. high. Brown the rolls turning every 2-3 mins. Once browned remove rolls to a plate. Pour water in the skillet, scrapping to lift all the brown bits. Add beef stock and bring to a boil. In a measuring cup mix flour with 1/2 c. water. Whisk into beef stock, stirring until gravy thickens. Reduce to low heat and add rolls back to gravy. Simmer on low for 1 hour. Traditionally served with potatoes or noodles. |
