1 cup sweet butter
1/2 cup soft dark brown sugar
2 eggs (separated)
2 cups sifted flour
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
Seedless preserves - any flavor - but Gram would prefer raspberry!

Directions:

Preheat oven to 300º

Cream butter. Add sugar and beat well. Add egg yolks beat 1 minute more. Blend in flour until soft and smooth. Chill dough in refrigerator 1 hour if dough is soft. Form balls w/ 1/2 tablespoon of dough. Dip half of the all into beaten egg white, then into chopped nuts. Place nut side up on baking sheet. With a thimble (or a clean finger) make an impression in center of each dough ball.

Bake 10 minutes remove from oven, press again with thimble and bake 15 minutes more. Cool on wire rack.

Fill with preserves when ready to serve.
