6 heaping cups flour
6 tsps. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 tbs. vanilla
2 - 2 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup butter or shortening
6 eggs
1/2 cup milk or water
Dyed Easter eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Cream sugar, butter and vanilla.
Beat eggs, one at as time, into creamed mixture.
Alternately add dry ingredients and milk into creamed mixture.
Mix until ball of dough forms. Dough shouldn't be too sticky to handle.v You may need to refrigerate dough for easier handling.
Roll dough out into logs 1-inch in diameter. about 12 inches long.
Wrap one or 2 eggs.
Bake 375ºF for 15 to 20 minutes.

Variations:
Roll dough into thinner strips and using two, crisscross, weaving an egg or two into the braid. Or use three strips to form a braid. Eggs can be dyed ahead of baking, but do not need to bee hard-boiled. Bread caqn be brushed with an egg wash and sprinkled with colored jimmies before baking.
