3/4 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup shredded Brazil nuts
1/2 cup candied cherries

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar, add unbeaten eggs & vanilla. Beat well.
2. Add sifted dry ingredients, reserving some of the flour to dredge fruit & nuts.
3. Add fruit & nuts dredged in flour.
4. Drop by spoonful on baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
5. Bake in 375º oven for 12-15 minutes.

Notes:
1. Cut whole candied cherries in half. Do not add to the dough mixture. Press a cherry half into the center of the cookie, forming a "button".
2. Watch cookies carefully. Start with 10 minutes. These cookies should not be overly brown.

These are Daddy's favorite cookies. I have been making them for over 40 years, but this year (2014) he said I made them the best ever. I used parchment paper which makes a huge difference. Also, I baked them for 9-10 minutes which made a much better cookie.
