2 cups sugar, 1 white, 1 brown
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp flavoring (almond, lemon, etc)

Directions:
Directions:
Blend sugar and shortening. Add eggs, stir well. Add dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Add vanilla. Form dough into a roll and slice to desired thickness. The dough may be chilled before slicing. Bake in a slow oven - 325 degrees.

Grandma Terry didn't bake many cookies, but these were very good. She sometimes sprinkled colored sugars on top before baking.
