2 cups milk, heated (don't scald)
4 tbsp. crisco
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 cups flour
1 pkg. yeast

Directions:
Directions:
Put crisco, sugar, and salt in mixing bowl. pour milk over and when milk is cool enough, add the yeast. Add 2 cups of the flour and beat. Add two more cups of flour, one at a time, and beat--the last cup will have to be mixed in by hand. Put onto floured board and knead for several minutes. Let rise in warm spot until double in size. Roll out and cut into rolls. Bake at 450º for 10-12 minutes, or until brown.

Gladys used to put a dab of butter in the center of each roll before folding them in half to bake. She also would put a couple of tbsp. of oil in the center of the pan and then drag each roll through that before lining them up to bake.
