Directions:Boil chicken (in water) until done. Debone chicken in separate bowl. You will be left with chicken broth made from boiling the chicken. Add one cup of the chicken broth and 2 cups of flour in a bowl. Mix into dough. Roll dough out on floured countertop. Cut into small, thin squares to create dumplings. Then bring leftover chicken broth to a boil. Turn to low heat and drop dumplings in boiling spots (to prevent dumplings from sticking together). After all dumplings are added, remove from heat and add deboned chicken. Stir, place top on pot, then allow to sit for 5 mins. Add salt and pepper to taste. *NOTE: make sure when boiling the chicken that you have plenty of water. Salt and pepper the water while boiling so you will have good flavored broth! |

Notes: This recipe dates back many of years. This is the best dumplings recipe I've ever encountered. They are true homemade dumplings. Charly, my baby girl, is typing the recipe for me as I explain it to her. It is so funny to see how difficult this simple recipe seems to a "new cook". She was saying things like "wait, where did the dumplings come from? How did you get the broth and what do you do with the chicken??" Lol! What a bonding blessing this has been. I told her this is modernized--at least we don't have to ring the chicken's neck, skin it, and clean it! And pump water from the well! We have it made!
