5 eggs
3/4 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 gallon whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Separate the whites of 5 eggs in separate mixing bowl.

Mix the yellows from the 5 eggs with the flour, sugar and salt.

Gradually add in a lttle milk at a time to avoid lumps. Bring to a boil in a double boiler, stirring constantly until thick. (If you get lumps, use a strainer.

Cool the milk & egg mixture. Beat the egg whites. Fold them into the milk & egg mixture and add vanilla.

This recipe was written as I watched Mom make custard for us last Christmas. She doesn't use a recipe so these amounts are sheer guesstimates. Todd, for your sake, I hope I have it right!
