3 1/2 pounds chicken, cut into pieces
2 tablespoons oil
2 cups (16 ounces) tomatoes, undrained
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, crushed
1/4 cup cocoa
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup slivered almonds
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons sesame seeds
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 bay leaf, crumbled
1/4 teaspoon anise seeds
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/8 teaspoon cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Brown chicken pieces in oil. Add water to cover and simmer for 30 minutes.

Prepare sauce by putting remaining ingredients in blender in order given. Process at medium speed until sauce is smooth.

Drain broth from chicken in skillet, reserving 1 cup.

Combine reserved broth and sauce from blender. Add to chicken and simmer for 30 minutes.

Garnish with sesame seeds, lime slices, and additional slivers of pepper, if desired.

Serve with rice.

Additional sauce is excellent in chili or served with leftover chicken, turkey, or pork.
