2 pounds ground chuck
1 tablespoon shortening
1 cup diced green pepper
3 1/2 cups (1 pound 13 ounces) canned tomatoes
1/2 cup onion flakes
4 cups (2 pounds) canned red kidney beans
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Brown meat in shortening in a 3 quart saucepan or Dutch oven.

Add green pepper and cook until limp.

Stir in next 3 ingredients.

Cook slowly for 15 minutes.

Add undrained kidney beans and next 4 ingredients.

Cook for 10 minutes.

Serve over rice.
