2 lbs ground beef
1/2 cup pot barley
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup sliced carrots
2 cups shredded cabbage
2 cups sliced potatoes
2-3 cups tomato juice
Assorted leftover vegetables
Salt to taste

Place beef in a large pot cover with water and bring to a boil. When water boils add barley. Cook until barley is almost tender. Add vegetables cook gently add liquid and a can of corn and peas

I add basil, thyme, garlic powder, seasoned salt and tomatoes instead of tomatoe juice
