In a big pot, stir together:
2 C sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp allspice
1 C shortening
1 C raisins
2 C hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Slowly bring to a boil stirring constantly…boil exactly 1 minute. Remove from heat and immediately add 2 tsp baking soda. It will foam to the top of the pot. Keep stirring. Let the mixture completely cool.

Stir in 1 C chopped pecans and 3 ˝ C flour. Pour into greased and floured loaf pans and bake at 300° for 1 hour.

Makes 2 large loaves, 3 medium loaves, or 6 miniature loaves
