BASIC & "CRISPIE" cut-outs:
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
SNOWBALLS:
3/4 cup nuts, finely chopped added to 1/2 of dough
powdered sugar to decorate
MOLASSES SPICE-SEZ:
Add to 1/2 of dough-
2 tbsp. molasses
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter & powdered sugar until fluffy. Add egg & vanilla and beat well. Blend in the dry ingredients.
Divide the dough & prepare as follows:
Use ungreased cookie sheets
1. Crispies - Roll 1/8" thick. Cut with floured cookie cutter. Bake 6 minutes at 400º. Frost if desired.
2. Snowballs - Add the nuts & roll in balls the size of large marbles. Bake 8-10 minutes at 400º. Roll in powdered sugar when cool.
3. Molasses - to half of dough add the molasses & all the spices. Chill 1/2 hour. Roll 1/8" thick. Bake 6 minutes at 400º.
