1 Cup Shortening
1 Cup Molasses
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 Cup hot coffee
1 tsp Nutmeg
1/4 tsp Cloves
1 tsp salt
3 Cups flour plus 1 rounded Tbsp

Frosting:
1 Envelope plain gelatin
3/4/ Cup Sugar
3/4 Cup water
3/4 Cup Powdered Sugar
3/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Put in shortening, molasses, and soda. dissolve in hot coffee in large mixing bowl, mix until well blended. Sift spices with flour and add beating until well mixed.

Chill dough. Roll out fairly thick on lightly floured board and cut with a lunch meat can, such as a spam can.
Bake @ 350º for 6 - 8 minutes.
Cool and frost
Frosting:
Soak gelatin in water in saucepan. Add sugar and bring to a boil simmer for 10 minutes. Stir and add powdered sugar and beat until foamy. Mix in baking powder and vanilla until thick. Frost bottom side of cookies. Let stand until frosting to dry.
