1 bunch broccoli
2 TBS butter
2 TBPS flour
2 c. milk
3/4 c. grated cheese
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 c. sliced or slivered almonds
4 slices crisp, cooked bacon
1/2 c. buttered bread crumbs
1/2 c, sliced and sautéed mushrooms

Cook broccoli. Melt butter in heavy bottom saucepan, whisk or stir in flour and cook a minute then add milk. Stir until thickened. Stir in cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
Place all in greased 1 1/2 qt casserole and sprinkle with crumbled bacon and mushrooms. Top with buttered bread crumbs.

Bake at 350 for 20 minutes

This was one of the vegetables I served for Christmas dinner for many years. It came to me from a neighbor in Annisquam, Ingalille Olsen, whose sons, Matz and Patrick were friends of my boys. She was a great cook and this is a fabulous recipe.
