4 egg whites
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º. Beat egg whites until stiff. Slowly add sugar. Beat into stiff peaks. Slowly add vanilla and vinegar. Beat into meringue. Bake for 1 hour. It will rise and then fall in the middle. It will be golden brown and crisp on outside and white and fluffy inside. Fill hollow with sweetened strawberries. Cut and serve with whipped cream.

This was my mother's recipe. She loved to make it during strawberry season.I thought I had lost it forever when she died but years later found it in one of her old cookbooks.
