2 cups sugar
3/4 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/2 cup cocoa
2 1/2 cup flour
1 cup sour milk
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup boiling water
1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Frosting:
1 stick butter - softened
3 Tbsp. cocoa
4 Tbsp. milk
2 2/3 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.
Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and beat.
Mix remaining ingredients in order given. Add water last.
Sour the milk by adding 1 Tbsp. vinegar or use buttermilk.
Bake at 350º for 40 + minutes in large oiled and floured pan.

Frosting:
Heat first three frosting ingredients. Do not boil. Remove from heat. Add sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
