*Preheat oven to 400 degree
*Pre-measure all ingredients in advance
*Grease and flour sheet cake in advance

CAKE –
1-stick margarine
˝ c Crisco
3 ˝-4 tbs Cocoa
1c Water
2c Sugar
2c Unsifted flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
3 eggs
˝c Buttermilk
1 tsp Vanilla

ICING
1 stick margarine
1/2c Buttermilk
3 ˝-4 tbs cocoa
16 oz Powdered Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
1c Chopped Nuts (optional)

CAKE
Combine In a 2 Qt saucepan put margarine, Crisco, cocoa and water and bring to a boil. Remove from heat (don’t wash the pan). While this is boiling mix the remaining ingredients, except the vanilla, in a separate mixing bowl. Once the cocoa mixture is done boiling, immediately add to the remaining cake ingredients in the separate mixing bowl. Once everything is mixed together add the vanilla
Pour into greased/floured cake pan.
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Check with toothpick to be sure it is done.

ICING
5 minutes before cake is done put margarine, milk and cocoa in the unwashed saucepan.
Bring to a boil, remove from heat and add powdered sugar and vanilla.
Beat with an electric mixer a little bit but be sure powdered sugar is completely dissolved. Use a table knife to put slits all over the top of the cake. Pour icing over hot cake and let it soak in.
