4 1/2C. flour
4 tsp ginger
2 tsp soda
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 C. butter or margarine, softened
2 C. white sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp orange juice (or water, but OJ for best results)
1/2 C. molasses
2 TBSP sugar (for rolling the cookies)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Sift flour, ginger, soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt together

In a separate bowl, cream margarine and sugar until it is light and fluffy

Beat in the egg, OJ, and molasses to the margarine and sugar

Add the dry ingredients until well mixed

Roll the dough into walnut size balls, then roll in the 2 TBSP of white sugar, place 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet.

Bake 8-10 minutes

Note: This recipe was doubled from the original, it makes a lot of cookies.
