Ingredients:
Ingredients:
4 Large Bermuda or Spanish Onions
Oil for frying
4 Eggs, beaten
1/4 Cup Water
2 Tsp. Salt and some Pepper
1-2 Cups Flour
1-2 Cups Plain Bread Crumbs
Salt to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and slice the onions very thin and layer in a bowl or shallow pan. Only use the outside rings, save the inner rings in a freezer bag, freeze for future use. Pour a mixture of water and milk over onions in pan and refrigerate. Grandma used Carnation Instant Milk and water. Turn onions once in a while to make sure they soak all over.
When ready to fry, light oven to 300º. Open a large brown paper bag and put on cookie sheet. Heat oil (about 2 inches deep) in wide bottomed pan.
Break eggs into a pie plate and add 1/4 cup water, 2 tsp. salt and some pepper. Beat together. On a large piece of waxed paper have one pile of flour and one pile of bread crumbs.
Using tongs, dip each ring, right out of the milk, first into flour, then egg mixture and then into crumbs. Cover well. Fry only as many at a time as fit into pan, do not crowd. Turn them as they get brown. Remove to brown paper bag which will soak up excess grease.
Keep rings warm in low oven while you cook the remainder of the Onions.
This same method can be used to make deep fried mushrooms
