3/4 cup Butter and Lard mixed
2/3 cup white sugar
2 cups white flour
1 egg
2 Tbsp. baking powder
1/4 cup hot water
1/8 tsp. baking soda (dissolve in the water)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can apple pie fillling

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve baking soda in water.
Mix all ingredients together (except the pie filling)
Once well mixed, press half of the batter into the bottom of an 8 x 8 cake pan.
cover with pie filling.
drop remaining batter on to with teaspoons and flatten out slightly.
Bake at 350º for 40 minutes.

May substitute with cherry pie filling.
