1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
Flour

Directions:
Directions:
In separate bowl sift together 3 cups all purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.... Set aside. Cream butter & sugar, add eggs one at a time, beating after each. Save 2 egg whites for icing. Add vanilla, then gradually add sifted flour continually beating. Then continue to add plain flour until mixture is of rolling consistency. Cover dough & chill for a few hours for easy rolling. Roll to about 1/4 inch and cut out using cookie cutters. Bake cookies at 350º for 10-12 minutes. DO NOT brown cookies, bake only until bottoms are light tan. ICING: beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Then add powdered sugar until thick enough to spread.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Divide icing into 5 bowls. Add 3-4 drops of food coloring into each bowl...... Red, yellow blue, green, and white are the traditional colors. Call Eddie for decorating tips!! Mom always made a dishpan full of these.....colorful and delicious! But we only had them once a year for New Years.
