Ingredients:  
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg yolk, 1 egg white
1 c. flour
crushed nuts
jelly or jam

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and brown sugar. Add egg yolk. Beat slightly. Add 1 c. flour and blend well. Roll into small balls and dip into slightly beaten egg white, then in crushed nuts. Place on slightly greased cookie sheet and press down center. Bake 8 min. at 325-remove from oven,press down centers. Bake 8 min. more, press down centers again and fill with jelly or jam. Return to oven and bake a few minutes more.

Aunt Pearl always made these at Christmas and used red and green jelly. They looked so pretty on a plate.
